The best Döner in Berlin? Who can say, but….

Length: < 1 min

…it’s probably worth asking that question of Berlin Food Stories, which is a go-to guide for, unsurprisingly, foods of Berlin, including the ‘latest’ trend there for kokoreç “sandwiches” AKA kebabs.

In this case, it’s a dish from the Balkans and Anatolia area, consisting of lamb (or goat intestines) wrapped around seasoned offal, including sweetbreads, hearts, lungs, or kidneys, and typically grilled; a variant consists of chopped innards cooked on a griddle. The intestines of suckling lambs are preferred ©Wiki for that description..

It looks and sounds bloody delicious to be honest and is explored more fully in an editorial piece here.

The site has been operating since 2012, when it was setup as his personal blog by the founder Per Meurling — who still runs it — and is known as “the Hungriest Man in Berlin”. It’s grown since then and now has a number of contributors, some of whom are. like Per, ex-pats. In his case out of Sweden.. Well worth a read and a book-mark.

Our next trip to Berlin will be helped by them; although this 2023 piece on ‘best’ kebabs may need an update by then…
